"We have firm confidence in China's economy to maintain medium and high-speed growth and move towards the mid-to-high level; we have firm confidence in China's economy to develop with a good trend," Chinese President Xi Jinping said on Wednesday.
Xi made the remarks in Beijing when meeting with foreign guests who came to China to attend the 2018 Imperial Springs International Forum (ISIF).
He said China's economy is generally stable with improving momentum for growth and the purpose to enable the people to live a better life is the motivation and potential of China's economy.
China remains the biggest developing country in the world, he added.
President Xi introduced progress of China's reform and opening-up during the past 40 years and important measures in a new round of higher-level reform and opening-up.
Xi noted that China's reform and opening-up can be viewed as a "second revolution" and that an important feature of China's economic development in the new era is the transition from high-speed growth to high-quality development.
China adheres to multilateralism and China's door of opening-up will only become wider, Xi said, adding that many measures were announced during the annual conference of the Boao Forum for Asia in April and the first China International Import Expo in November.
Xi stressed that the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative offers a new platform for cooperation for the international community.
China promotes a new type of international relations and calls for building a community with a shared future for humanity, which is also a method of win-win cooperation with all countries, he added.
Former Latvian President Vaira Vike-Freiberga and other foreign guests congratulated China on the 40th anniversary of its reform and opening-up policy, hailing China's remarkable achievements and its profound and positive impacts on the world.
The foreign guests said they appreciate the positive role that China plays on the world stage and agrees with Beijing's proposal in building a community with a shared future for humanity.
As economic globalization deepens and countries get increasingly interconnected, mutual trust should be boosted while win-win cooperation should be promoted in developing international relations, they said, underscoring the need to safeguard world peace, promote shared growth, and oppose unilateralism, isolationism and protectionism.
The China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative is bringing tangible benefits to many countries, they noted.
The international community is benefiting from China's development and expects the country to continue to play a leading role in global affairs such as development, addressing climate change, and maintaining a multilateral trading system, the guests added.
The ISIF, inaugurated in August 2011, was officially established in 2014 with the approval of the Chinese government. It is currently co-hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Australia China Friendship and Exchange Association (ACFEA).
Under the theme of "Advancing Reform and Opening-Up, Promoting Win-Win Cooperation," the 2018 ISIF came to a successful conclusion on Tuesday in Guangzhou, south China's Guangdong Province.
